If you’re feeling less-than-happy with your breast size, you might be thinking about the benefits of breast augmentation. At Bella Cosmetic Surgery, those benefits are different for every woman. Our board-certified plastic surgeons believe in customizing breast augmentation to ensure great results that reflect each woman’s unique needs and goals.
We’ve been helping patients in Oxon Hill, MD, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia achieve their aesthetic goals for over 20 years, and our team is excited to guide you through the process of choosing the right implant type and size. Whether you’re looking to restore volume, enhance cleavage, or refine your natural contours, we can tailor the ideal approach for you.
The two main breast implant options are saline and silicone, and each offers distinct benefits.
Saline Implants
Saline implants have a round silicone shell. They’re flat when inserted into your breast, and your surgeon then adds a salt-water solution to reach the desired volume. That makes saline implants highly adjustable, so your Bella Cosmetic Surgery surgeon can use their considerable expertise and artistic eye to gauge the ideal volume in real time.
Because saline implants are only filled once inside your breast, they require smaller incisions than the other implant option (silicone).
Saline implants provide a round, full look with plenty of cleavage. They’re usually best suited for women who have a significant amount of breast tissue already, as smaller-framed women or those with very small natural breasts may find that saline implants don’t look or feel as natural as they desire.
Silicone Cohesive Gel Implants
Made from a highly cohesive gel, silicone implants closely replicate the look and feel of natural breast tissue. This type of implant doesn’t leak, even if damaged. The gel retains its shape, making it a safe and reliable choice.
Silicone cohesive gel implants have a narrower top and fuller bottom, creating a natural-looking teardrop shape. Because the implants are larger than a flat silicone shell, they require a longer incision than saline implants.
This type of implant offers a smooth, even look that works well for any build or breast size.
Implant sizing is an important part of the breast augmentation process, and it’s about more than just cup size. Implants measurements reflect volume, expressed in cubic centimeters (cc). How many cc’s you need depends on many factors, such as:
We take the time to understand all the factors that play into implant size choice so we can make an ideal recommendation for you.
