WHAT ARE FILLERS?
Fillers are injectables used to add volume to wrinkles and lines on the face or to stimulate your body to create more collagen and elastin. There are various types available, and they areinjected by healthcare providers to address a variety of cosmetic concerns. This popular cosmetic treatment yields immediate results, which can last for months or even years.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR FILLERS?
- If you have wrinkles on your face that you wish to diminish
- If you desire to have fuller or more defined lips
- If you want to add fullness and definition to your midface
- If you have deep tear troughs
- If you have deep nasolabial folds (the line between the nose and the corner of your mouth)
- If you have deep frown lines (marionette lines)
- If you have vertical wrinkles around your lips
- If you have horizontal “necklace lines” on your neck
- If you have hollowing of your temples
- If you have scars on your face that you wish to improve
WHAT ARE THE INTENDED RESULTS OF FILLERS?
- To smooth out, fill in, and decrease wrinkles
- To plump lips and define the edges of the lips
- To fill in and reduce the depth of the nasolabial folds, marionette lines and other facial folds
- To fill depressed, acne scars
HOW ARE FILLERS USED?
A topical numbing medication may be used for your comfort prior to the injections. Using a very fine needle, small amounts of filler are injected under your skin and into deeper tissue. While the needle may cause a pinching or stinging sensation, most individuals do not find the injections very painful.
HOW LONG DO FILLERS LAST?
The duration of results depends on the filler type and the area injected. Hyaluronic acid fillers last for anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.
HOW LONG UNTIL YOU SEE THE FINAL RESULTS?
Most patients notice immediate results from dermal fillers, which are typically administered in about an hour (depending on how many areas are being treated).
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?
Since it is a nonsurgical procedure, recovery time is minimal.
WHAT FILLERS DO WE USE AT BELLA?
HYALURONIC ACID (HA) FILLERS
- RHA FILLERS (TEOXANE)
- Resilient hyaluronic acid (RHA) fillers are designed to closely resemble the natural HA present in the skin. They are engineered to adjust to facial movements and retain their shape, producing a more authentic outcome compared to other fillers. The effects of the injection are instant, enhancing facial volume and smoothing lines and wrinkles near the mouth and nose. The results appear natural as well as long-lasting.
- The main distinction between other HA fillers and Teoxane, lies in Teoxane’s approach to hyaluronic acid, which is engineered to replicate the body’s natural HA precisely. This design ensures the filler is highly adaptable to facial expressions and movements, resulting in a noticeably natural appearance for patients.
- Teoxane’sTeosyal line is comprised of distinct dermal fillers with varying gel densities and properties. Each Teoxane product is tailored to address a specific facial area and achieve a specific outcome.
Teoysal RHA 2:
The RHA 2 formulation is an intermediate product within the Teoxane RHA line, suitable for addressing moderate wrinkles that are visible in the mirror. The outcomes are natural, without an overly firm or taut appearance. They avoid rendering the face expressionless, ensuring that the mobile regions around the jawline, lips, and eyes remain free from swelling or stiffness.
Teoysal RHA 3:
RHA 3 addresses deeper lines and wrinkles resulting from substantial volume loss in the lips due to aging. It is also effective against horizontal forehead lines caused by muscle movements. The soft and flexible enhancement it provides within the skin is ideal for more dynamic areas such as expression lines and deep forehead furrows.
Teosyal RHA 4:
The most intensive among theTeoxane formulations, RHA 4, is the pinnacle of the TEOSYAL RHA series. It is most effective for erasing deep furrows and lines and rejuvenating sagging skin in various facial regions. Its gentle yet firm approach provides substantial support to the most mobile areas of the face, including the brow, lip area, and cheeks.
RESTYLANE
Restylane consists of FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillersthat help smooth wrinkles and plump your cheeks and lips
Restylane & Restylane Lyft: Restylane and Restylane Lyft are both hyaluronic acid-based injectables used to address wrinkles, enhance lips, or augment soft tissue. Restylane Lyft is essentially the same as Restylane but contains a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid. This higher concentration makes Restylane Lyft more suitable for treating deeper folds, while Restylane injections are better for minor wrinkles or maintaining results from a previous Restylane Lyft treatment.
Restylane Silk: Restylane Silk is an injectable gel made from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body. Restylane Silk is used to subtly plump thinning lips and smooth wrinkles and lines around the mouth. It is designed to soften and smooth these areas, providing natural-looking results.
Restylane Refyne&Defyne: Both Refyne and Defyne are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers designed to correct smile lines (marionette lines) for a more youthful appearance. The primary distinction between the two is their intended use: Restylane Refyne is for mild to moderate lines and wrinkles, while Restylane Defyne is for moderate to severe smile lines. Both fillers provide long-lasting results.
Restylane Kysse: Restylane Kysse is a hyaluronic acid filler created specifically for enhancing the lips. It is formulated with smaller particles compared to similar products and is the first FDA-approved lip filler to use XpresHAn Technology™. This unique manufacturing process produces a gel that blends smoothly into the tissue. Unlike some fillers that can create a firm, structured look in the lips, Kysse is designed to provide a soft, flexible feel and natural movement.
REVANESSE VERSA
Revanesse Versa, often referred to as “Versa,” is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler typically used for injections in the lips, nasolabial folds, and cheeks. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the body and is the primary active ingredient in Versa, as with most fillers. However, what sets Versa apart is the uniform size and perfectly spherical shape of its particles. This characteristic results in a balanced combination of volume and smoothness, reducing the likelihood of the filler feeling uneven or “bumpy.”
BIOSTIMULATORS
- Radiesse
- Radiesse is both a filler and biostimulatory product. It provides immediate volume and stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin, offering long-lasting results. It has FDA approval for treating moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as smile lines (nasolabial folds), marionette lines, corner lines around the mouth, pre-jowl folds, and for hand rejuvenation.
- Radiesse is made of small, smooth calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa) microspheres, a biomaterial that naturally harmonizes with the body. This substance is a key mineral component of bones and teeth. Radiesse functions as a volumizing filler, evenly distributed within the skin to fill wrinkles and restore facial fullness. While its purpose is similar to other injectables, its mechanism is unique. Upon injection, the CaHa microspheres create a scaffold that stimulates the body’s collagen production. As the gel is gradually absorbed by the body, this newly formed collagen fills the area, eventually replacing the gel with natural tissue. Radiesse provides the support and structure necessary for the body to generate new tissue and collagen before naturally dissipating. Many individuals opt for this treatment to address age-related wrinkles and lines, such as deep nasolabial folds. Radiesse is known for producing natural, enduring enhancements to the face.
- Sculptra
- Sculptra’s primary component is a biodegradable synthetic material known as poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). This material is naturally compatible with the body and has a proven track record of safety and efficacy. Sculptra is commonly used to smooth fine lines and enhance facial contours, resulting in a more youthful and vibrant appearance. The treatment works by stimulating the body’s natural processes to remodel the skin’s surface. Following injection, the PLLA microparticles are assimilated into the dermal structure, prompting collagen production and the reconstruction of foundational tissue. Over time, this increased collagen production helps to diminish wrinkles and enhance facial contours that have lost volume due to aging. Wefrequentlyutilize this injectable for patients seeking to reduce wrinkles, restore fullness to hollow areas, and achieve a more refined, radiant profile.
HYALURONIC ACID FILLERS VERSUS BIOSTIMULATORS:
- Hyaluronic acid is a favored option for injectable fillers because of its versatility, efficacy, and minimal side effects. Hyaluronic acid is utilized as a temporary soft tissue filler. Its distinctive physical characteristics, like its high water-binding capacity, coupled with its proven effectiveness and safety record, make it a preferred option for dermal filling. Because of its molecular composition, hyaluronic acid breaks down naturally over time and is eliminated from the body.
- Biostimulators are compounds injected into the dermis, the deep layer of the skin. Unlike dermal fillers that add volume, the results of biostimulators are not immediate and over time biostimulators encourage new tissue growth, aiding the skin in generating its own volume naturally.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TEMPORARY ANDPERMANENTFILLERS?
- TEMPORARY DERMAL FILLERS: Temporary dermal fillers are the most prevalent type of filler. At Spa Bella, we use2 types of temporary dermal fillers: hyaluronic acid-based fillers, and calcium hydroxyapatite fillers. Temporary fillers usually last for about six months to 2 years, with the duration influenced by the anatomic location and the amount and type of filler injected.
PROS:
- Since it is not permanent, you have the option to try different types of filler
- You have control over the frequency of treatments, and if you are dissatisfied with the results, you can stop treatment.
- The procedure is minimally invasive and fast, with minimal recovery time and few side effects.
- Hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible with an enzyme called Hyaluronidase.
CONS:
- Since it is not permanent, it requires re-treatment.
- PERMANENT DERMAL FILLERS: Permanent dermal fillers are the most viscous type. Unlike temporary and semi-permanent fillers, they are non-biodegradable, meaning the body cannot break them down as rapidly. These fillers are typically designed for injection into areas of the body with thick skin, such as the nasolabial folds, pr deep scars. These are rarely used today.
