We are very excited to be able to offer our patients the latest in skin care treatments at Spa Bella: microdermabrasion. Medical microdermabrasion can be performed as a stand-alone treatment or combined with a chemical peel for enhanced skin tone and smoothness.
A safe, progressive approach to skin care in Maryland and Northern Virginia, microdermabrasion exfoliates dry, dull skin while stimulating circulation and collagen production. Each treatment removes one to two layers of dead skin cells, depending on the condition that is being treated. Patients can be treated at their own comfort levels. After treatment, you will find that your skin looks younger, smoother, and more radiant in just a matter of minutes. A series of treatments will stimulate collagen production and increase circulation for smoother and healthier skin.
What To Expect?
After your initial microdermabrasion consultation, a customized plan will be developed for you. Microdermabrasion is a progressive skin treatment, and your ultimate success depends on multiple treatments following a strict schedule. Often called “The Lunchtime Peel,” each session may take between 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the areas being treated for our microdermabrasion patients. Your skin may be slightly reddened for 20 minutes to several hours after the treatment, but it is perfectly safe to apply make-up and return to normal activities. There is no “downtime” associated with microdermabrasion.
Your personalized regimen will be determined by the condition of your existing skin and your desired results. The number of treatments can vary from 6 to 12, depending on the severity of your condition and treatment goals. Stretch marks and acne scars require the greatest number of treatments. Each session is typically performed 7 to 10 days after the last one.
It is extremely important that you adhere to the schedule that is developed for you. Waiting longer than the recommended timeframe between treatments can interfere with your progress. After your desired results have been achieved, you will want to have maintenance treatments at least once every three months.
Typical Results
Keep in mind that microdermabrasion is a progressive procedure, so your results will be revealed slowly over time. You will definitely feel softer, smoother skin and may see subtle improvement after only one visit. Benefits continue to multiply with each additional treatment as increased circulation is noted within the dermis and newer, healthier skin cells are seen at the surface.
Depending on the goals of your treatment protocol, certain prescription medications may be recommended, as well as a special series of skin care serums formulated for use specifically during and after microdermabrasion treatments.
Treatable Skin Conditions
Our microdermabrasion treatments have been clinically proven to significantly reduce the appearance of:
- Wrinkles
- Fine lines
- Active acne and acne scars
- Age/sun spots
- Enlarged or clogged pores
- Flaking and dry skin
- Uneven pigmentation
Focus On Wrinkles
Superficial fine lines and wrinkles respond well to microdermabrasion. Deep wrinkles or dynamic lines may be softened somewhat but cannot be completely resolved through microdermabrasion treatments. Other treatments, such as a surgical facelift may be necessary to achieve more dramatic results.
