BBL Photorejuvenation Pre and Post Treatment Care

Pre-Treatment Instructions

  1. Discontinue use of Retin-A, AHA, BHA (glycolic, lactic, salicylic acid) containing products 1 week prior to treatment.
  2. Avoid sun exposure 1 week prior to your treatment.
  3. No spray tanning or self-tanners 2 weeks prior to your treatment.
  4. If you are prone to herpes simplex outbreaks, such as cold sores, consult your provider on ways to treat prior or whether the procedure is appropriate for you.

Post Treatment Care

  1. Cold packs, Aloe Vera gel or any other cooling preparation may be used to ease temporary discomfort.
  2. Use a gentle cleanser and a gentle moisturizer for the next week, your provider will recommend products for you to use.
  3. Wait one week to resume retinol, vitamin C and hydroquinone products.
  4. Quick tepid showers are recommended. If areas are treated other than the facial area, hot baths are not advised for 24 hours.
  5. If the skin is broken or a blister appears, apply an antibiotic ointment and call our clinic for further advice. The area should be kept lubricated with Aquaphor or post-treatment cream recommended by your provider to prevent crusting or scabbing of the treated
    area.
  6. Sun exposure is to be avoided for 3 weeks after treatment. Total sun block, not sunscreen, should be applied if it is impossible to stay out of the sun. If multiple treatments are needed, a commitment to stay out of the sun is necessary. With sun exposure, there are certain minor complications that may occur. These complications will be discussed with you during your consultation.
  7. Make-up can be applied starting the following day, as long as the skin is not broken, and make-up does not contain any irritants like  Vitamin C or Retin A. Make-up may also serve
as an additional sun shield. Please discuss the make-up you use with the provider before using it.
  8. Do not resume waxing or exfoliating products until 2 weeks after treatment. If you are undergoing a series of peels or resurfacing, please ask the nurse how you should proceed with skincare products.
