What To Expect
- Expect an inflammatory response as the body replaces adipose tissue at the injection site.
- You will likely experience some swelling, tenderness and erythema which may persist for the first several days to weeks post injection.
- Managed with cool compresses and NSAIDs
- You may experience firmness, lumpiness, or even "nodules" after your injections.
- Managed with moderate massage until resolved.
Tips To Follow After Your Treatment
- Apply a cool compress to the injection site for up to 48hours.
- Avoid applying pressure to the treated area for 24 hours post-treatment.
- Massage the treated area for 5 minutes twice a day for 4 weeks after the injection.
- NSAIDs can be taken for discomfort as needed, if not contraindicated.
- Until redness and swelling have gone down, avoid exposure to intense heat and direct sunlight.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
- Avoid makeup in the treated area for 24 hours.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 2 days.
- No vaccines or major dental work for a minimum of 2 weeks after your treatment.
- Avoid flying in an airplane for at least 72 hrs. The increase in pressure can cause severe swelling and discomfort.
- Please call with any worsening or longer-lasting symptoms.
