Every Maryland patient is unique, and everyone recovers from a tummy tuck at a different speed. The precise nature of your recovery will depend on unique, difficult-to-predict circumstances.
However, most of our patients are able to return to work approximately two weeks after undergoing a tummy tuck.
Again, it's important to understand that this timeline is not set in stone. Some patients heal faster than others. And you can do everything right, only to find yourself still struggling with discomfort that prevents you from returning to work.
Dr. Chiaramonte will provide you with a more detailed recovery timeline and set of instructions before you undergo your tummy tuck. Generally, however, we tell patients that they can expect to return to their full range of normal activities approximately six weeks after a tummy tuck.
Before that period, you should be careful about physical exertion. Walking is an excellent away of keeping active and encouraging healing, but you should definitely hold off on heavy lifting and strenuous activity until you receive the go-ahead from Dr. Chiaramonte. Obviously, this means your return to work might be delayed if your job is more physically intense.
