Vein Treatment and Removal in Maryland and Washington, DC

About Vein Therapy

Maryland Vein TherapySpider veins or varicose veins are unsightly disorders that may occur singly or in groups on various areas of your body. Spider veins are small, dilated veins that form web-like or sunburst patterns on the legs and face. Varicose veins are larger dilated blood vessels which are sometimes raised above the skin. Though not dangerous, both conditions may cause discomfort, and larger varicose veins can be quite painful.

Vein therapy, often performed on an outpatient basis, can be effective in 50 to 90 percent of cases. Treatments include sclerotherapy, in which blood vessels are injected with a solution that causes them to shrink and disappear; laser surgery; ligation (tying off the veins); or complete removal of the affected blood vessels. Several veins may be treated during one visit, and repeated treatments may often be needed, depending on the size of the blood vessels involved.
