Before   After

This 57-year-old patient from Upper Marlboro, Maryland came to the office in search of a plastic surgeon who could help make her a dreams a reality. She underwent gastric bypass in 2003 and had lost 124 pounds, maintaining a stable weight of about 140 pounds for almost four months. Like many post-gastric patients, she needed help fixing several areas of her body. With a history of diabetes, cholesterol, and hypertension, she needed to be carefully monitored before, during, and after her surgical procedures.

After hearing her concerns and completing an examination, the patient decided to focus on her mid-body region. I recommended a circumferential abdominoplasty with a lower body lift and liposuction of her outer thighs. My other Maryland patients had excellent results with this combined procedure. The procedure involves making an incision directly above the pelvic region around the sides and above the buttock region. This allows the excess skin to be pulled down and excised. The navel is then repositioned back to its original site. Small incisions are placed on the thigh for the liposuction.

Her Maryland surgery couldn’t have gone better: scarring healed well, minimal drainage occurred, and moderate edema (fluid buildup under the skin) resolved quickly. She was glad to finally have a chance to enjoy her new beginning.
