This 56-year-old patient was in search of a Washington, D.C. plastic surgeon. She lives in southern Maryland and wanted to find a plastic surgeon close to her home so that she would have an easy commute for both pre and post operative visits. In 2002, this patient underwent gastric bypass surgery and, after achieving a stable weight, was ready to achieve her final beauty results through cosmetic surgery.

After listening to the concerns of this Washington, D.C. patient, I felt that a surgical procedure in the abdominal area would give the most dramatic results. I recommended that the patient consider a circumferential abdominoplasty with a lower body lift and mid-body liposuction. Maryland and D.C. patients have had great results with this combined procedure. Small incisions are placed on the patient’s sides for the mid-body liposuction, and another incision is made around her entire midsection, above her pelvis, hips, and buttocks and the excess skin is excised.

Postoperatively, this patient recovered well. She had minimal drainage, mild swelling, and no signs of infection. She was very pleased with her appearance and her speedy recovery allowed her to get back to her favorite outdoor activities, just in time for summer in the nation’s capital.
