Before   After

This 39-year-old patient from California, Maryland is a business woman who did her research on plastic surgery, through the web, before she decided to visit a plastic surgeon. After careful consideration, she came to my office in search of a procedure that could address her unflattering arms. She knew that along with other procedures she wanted to undergo a procedure called a brachioplasty.

After examination, I agreed with the patient that she needed brachioplasty because after loosing a considerable amount of weight, she would need to remove the excess arm skin. For this patient, there was no excess fat that needed to be removed, just skin. For this procedure, an incision is made from the elbow to the axilla (the armpit), then transversely within the axilla. The excess skin is then removed and a new area was sutured together. The incision for this patient was slightly longer than usual due to the amount of skin that needed to be removed.

After her Maryland plastic surgery, this patient had minimal scarring and her incisions healed wonderfully. There was a slight amount of edema, or swelling caused by fluid buildup, but it resolved quickly. The patient was very pleased with the contouring of her arms and felt that her research really paid off.
