Before   After

This 59-year-old patient from Fort Washington, Maryland had a problem that many people encounter but do not know how to solve. She came to the office in search of a cosmetic surgery procedure that could help get rid of the excess skin and tissue on her arms. This patient has had several medical procedures done in the past but this was the first time she looked into Maryland plastic surgery. In the summer, her flabby upper arms made her self-conscious about wearing short sleeve or sleeveless shirts. She loved to be outside in the summer, but avoided certain activities that would require her to show her arms, such as going to the shore or working outside on a hot day.

At her consultation in our plastic surgery office in Maryland, I told the patient that her sagging arm skin could be corrected through a procedure called brachioplasty, which consists of removal of excess skin and liposuction. My Maryland patients have had excellent outcomes with the procedure. For the liposuction, one incision is placed in the auxiliary fold, and a second incision is placed longitudinally along the brachial groove to remove excess skin. The procedure creates a much leaner arm appearance.

Postoperatively, this patient did well. Minimal bleeding and swelling occurred, but incisions healed well. She was delighted by her results. There was a small amount of numbness that occurred but feeling returned to her arms shortly. There were no other signs of problems and her rejuvenated arm contour was much more beautiful. Following her Maryland plastic surgery, the patient was ready to get back to wearing what she wanted and enjoying the summertime weather.
