This 48-year-old program analyst from Washington, D.C. wanted to find a plastic surgeon in the Metro area that would help her accomplish personal goals, after finding diet and exercise just weren’t enough. She had many concerns with her body, but wanted to begin by boosting her bust line. She wanted to be able to wear more attractive bras, more form fitting shirts, and fit better in her business suits. While she was comfortable with her cup size, she was more concerned with the sagging and drooping. After the physical examination, part of her consultation, I determined that the patient would benefit from mastopexy, or breast lift. She was bilaterally symmetrical, so no other procedure was necessary. The procedure would have the same incisions as a breast reduction, which includes an incision around the areola, straight down and into the inframammary fold. This would create a better proportion of the breast skin to the breast tissue to create a more rejuvenated, and firmer looking bust line. This patient recovered well and she returned to Washington, D.C. Breast enhancement through mastopexy generally results in some drainage and swelling, but for her, these were minimal. She recovered quickly and had no signs of infection. She also saw a major change in how her suits fit and she felt confident with her new look.
