At Bella Cosmetic Surgery in Maryland, we understand that this is an important decision and we want to make sure you know the options available so that you can make the right choice for your desired results.

With multiple breast implant options, you can feel confident that there is an implant to fit your figure and aesthetic goals. Dr. Michael Chiaramonte is a board-certified cosmetic surgeon with extensive experience who works with you through consultation to create an individualized plan for you. At Bella Cosmetic Surgery, we offer three breast implant types, including:

  • Silicone implants: This implant type is a silicone shell filled with an adhesive silicone gel. Silicone implants are generally the most popular type because they’re known to look and feel more natural than other implants. Choosing silicone implants means you may have to visit your cosmetic surgeon regularly to make sure they are functioning properly. These are FDA-approved for augmentation in women aged 22 and older.
  • Saline implants: These implants use a sterile saltwater gel which provides a uniform shape and firmness once implanted. If the implant ever leaks the liquid is safely absorbed by the body. This type of implant requires a smaller incision and is FDA-approved for augmentation in women 18 years and older.
  • Gummy bear implants: A new innovation in implant technology, gummy bear implants use a molecularly cross-bonded adhesive silicone gel, which is thicker than traditional silicone gel. Because of its thickness, they’re form-stable and hold their shape even if the shell is broken. Generally tear-shaped, these implants most closely resemble the shape of natural breasts but require a longer incision.

Before deciding on the type of implant you want, it’s important to discuss your goals with your cosmetic surgeon. Only then can you be sure that you’ll receive the desired results you seek to help you look and feel your best.
